Walking into Diagon Alley and Hogsmeade for the first time is almost impossible to put into words. It’s surreal. You can’t help but think how incredible it is that someone had the imagination — not just to recreate the scenes from the movies — but to build out entire alleys, stores, hidden corners, and tiny details you didn’t even know to expect. Every part of it is beautiful. You truly feel like you’ve stepped into a different world — a wizarding world.
Everywhere you look, there’s something to admire. From the crooked shop signs to the brick walls that seem to breathe with magic, Universal thought of everything. Even the soundscape around you changes depending on where you are — Diagon Alley feels bustling and alive, while Hogsmeade feels charming and just a little more relaxed.
We absolutely loved both Harry Potter rides!
Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts: The way the cars separate and move independently during the ride made it feel so immersive — you’re right in the middle of the action.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey: Riding through Hogwarts Castle is such a unique experience, blending simulator and real sets in a way that feels truly magical. We loved it so much we rode it several times.
We had meals at both The Three Broomsticks and The Leaky Cauldron — and both were wonderful experiences.
At The Three Broomsticks, the chicken and ribs combo was the standout. Hearty, flavorful, and the setting made it feel like we were dining right alongside the students of Hogwarts.
At The Leaky Cauldron, we tried the beef stew, which was good, though the atmosphere at The Three Broomsticks won us over a bit more.
Drinks: I tried the Pumpkin Juice, and while it wasn't my personal favorite, I could see it being perfect in the fall. It tasted like apple cider with cinnamon and nutmeg — very seasonal. As for Butterbeer, it was extremely sweet — basically liquid butterscotch! The girls loved both the regular and frozen versions.
Desserts: We also tried a Butterbeer-themed pastry dessert, and it was absolutely delicious — a must if you have a sweet tooth.
We popped into every shop we could find. Each was full of unique details that made them feel alive. Ollivanders Wand Shop was magical — and yes, I bought my own wand!
If you visit Diagon Alley, make sure to wander into the darker Knockturn Alley. It's tucked away and a little hidden, but it’s full of darker, eerie shops that are much less crowded — and totally immersive.
At night, Hogwarts Castle lights up in an absolutely breathtaking laser and light show. It's awe-inspiring and should not be missed. They even announce the daily House Cup winner and cap it off with some fireworks. It’s a beautiful, emotional moment to end the day.
Even just walking around, the magic is everywhere.
Some shop windows animate with magical creatures like mandrakes or Hagrid’s Monster Book of Monsters.
Others had clever little touches like Gilderoy Lockhart’s books stacked in a bookstore window.
Even areas you don’t walk into still feel fully alive, like real storefronts in the Wizarding World.
Whether you’re a hardcore fan or just someone who enjoyed the movies, Universal’s Wizarding World is truly something special. Every turn, every window, every shop feels like a piece of the story.
Don’t rush — take time to explore every shop, alley, and window.
Try the drinks — even if they’re not your favorite, they add to the experience!
Make time for the night show at Hogwarts Castle — it’s absolutely stunning.
Wander into Knockturn Alley — it’s a hidden gem most people miss.
If you or someone you know even has a slight interest in Harry Potter, this area is a must-visit. It’s one of the most magical, immersive theme park experiences you’ll find anywhere.
